The turquoise-green Saldur lakes are the highlight of the last day of hiking. From the Oberetteshütte it goes steeply uphill one last time, up to over 3000 meters to the highest lake district in the Alps. Now follows a steep descent down into the Matschertal. From the Glieshof mountain restaurant, a bus takes you back down to Mals.

Beschreibung

The path from the Oberetteshütte via the Tabernackel up to the highest point "Little Tibet" to the Saldur Lakes may be strenuous, but it is worth every effort. The view is magnificent, the silence and unspoilt is good. Trail no. 4 above the highest lake plateau in the Alps past several small and large Saldur lakes. After the last lake, the trail descends steeply to the end of the valley to the lush meadows of the old Matscher Alm. Here you can hike over the "Hearasteig" through the larch forest or take the easier forest path.

From the Glieshof, the hiking bus no. 281 regularly runs out to the mountaineering village of Matsch and from there you take the city bus down to Mals and thus to the end of the tour.

Geheimtipp

For the hardy: a jump into one of the lakes, but watch out: very cold!
