Access to Heidelberger Hütte from Samnaun

From the car park in Samnaun, walk to the end of the Musella road, turn left there and take a gravel path. This leads into the Val Musauna with its lush mountain meadows. Past the waterfalls, where the wide road climbs in serpentines, you finally hike across the Zeblas meadows (still on the road) to the 2539 metre high Zeblasjoch, which is a great place for a break with great views.

From here, the well-marked trail no. 712 leads along the north-west flank of the Vesil Joch in a slightly ascending traverse to the Fuorcla da Val Gronda (2752 m) opposite, which is located just south-east of the summit Piz Val Gronda (2812 m) (unfortunately covered by a cable car).

From this highest point of the hike, follow trail no. 712 to the south-west. As you descend over open, gently sloping mountain slopes, leave Piz Fenga Pitschna and Piz Davo Sasse on your left.

Finally, the trail turns westwards to reach the valley floor and, after crossing the Aua da Fenga, the large Heidelberger Hütte.
