Mountain Summit
Piz Buin
At 3,312 m above sea level, Piz Buin is the highest mountain in Vorarlberg and offers a panorama of peaks from the Dom in Wallis and the Bernese Alps in the west to the Ötztal peaks in the east.
Beschreibung
It was first climbed by the St. Gallen merchant Johann Jakob Weilenmann and the Viennese merchant Joseph Anton Specht on 14 July 1865 after an eight-and-a-half-hour hike from Alp Grossvermunt. The trail led the hiking group through the Ochsental and over the Wiesbadener Grätle and the Buinlücke.
Now that Alp Grossvermunt has sunk into Lake Silvretta and the glaciers have shrunk, Piz Buin with its summit is accessed from the Wiesbadener Hütte.
