Muglin Ftan
The old mill of Ftan tells of the once rich grain culture.

Beschreibung

Grain cultivation used to be the agricultural basis of the Lower Engadine. The fields on the terraced slopes shaped the image of the cultural landscape until shortly after the 2nd World War. The old mill of Ftan is the last witness of this era and tells of the once rich grain culture. In the building there are two mills in their original condition. The construction period of the older mill dates back about 400 years and, according to the Swiss Heritage Society, is the oldest, still functioning in the original mill in Switzerland. The rotor stones are driven by the water blades and the wooden shafts to the mighty gears.
