Stefan Engler attended high school at the Disentis Monastery School and completed his law studies at the University of Bern. He was admitted to the bar in the Canton of Graubünden. Between 1987 and 1999, Stefan Engler was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Graubünden. From 1999 to 2010 Engler was a member of the cantonal government. He headed the Department of Construction, Transport and Forestry. In 2003 and 2008, Stefan Engler was elected as President of the Government. Since 2011, he has been a member of the Council of States in the canton of Graubünden. In addition to his office as a member of the Council of States, Stefan Engler is active as a board member in various companies. Stefan Engler is married and father of two children and lives with his family in Chur.
